Study Abroad Program Location Moves to Costa Rica

The Spanish study abroad program has changed locations. Students used to travel to Mexico, but the agreement Siena Heights had with the institution in that country has expired. The school is now under new ownership, and has lower student enrollment.

Spanish students who now wish to participate in the study abroad program can do so in Costa Rica. A minimum of four semesters of Spanish are required to participate in the program. Students will now travel to the town of San Jose and study at the Veritas School of Art and Design.

Those who want more information on the school, go to Cip.veritas.cr. The school has 1,800 students enrolled currently, and 200-250 of those students are American.

SHU Spanish faculty member Nicholas Kaplan said he had this option as a backup plan and is sorry for the sudden change and any inconvenience this may cause. He said this program is a big part of Siena Heights University, and believes this opportunity for students is irreplaceable. He said Siena hopes to keep the study abroad program going for many years to come.
