September 25

Women’s Golf at Cleary Fall Invitational- 1st out of 8 teams

The Saints placed four of their golfers in the top five at the Cleary Fall Invitational at Chemung Hills. Katherine Carlson led the team from Siena, taking second place with a score of 85. Andrea Richards took third with an 86, Lauren Cojei shot an 88 earning herself a fourth place finish, and Ashley Carney tied for fifth with a 90. Just two strokes behind them, Ashley Bearden has a 92 to tie for ninth. The teas score was a 349.

Men’s Golf at Cleary Fall Invitational- 5th out of 8 teams

The men placed fifth out of eight teams at the Cleary Fall Invitational. Leading the team was Nicklaus Zanotti, who took seventh with a score of 78. Nick Burnham shot an 81 and tied for 17th, Michael MacLean shot an 83 to tie for 21st, and Nick Sanscrainte and Collin Smith tied for 24th with 84s. They had a team score of 326.

Women’s Volleyball vs. Concordia- 3-1, W

The Women’s volleyball team scoots past the team from Concordia in a conference match on Friday at home. The set scores were as follows: 15-25, 25-23, 23-25, 16-25. The Saints fought hard, only narrowly dropping the second set. Taylor Felver led SHU with a double-double, earning 10 kills, 13 digs, and four aces. Leze Vukaj had 13 kills and seven blocks. Carly Tillotson had 39 assists. Abby Whitehead contributed 10 kills while Nicole Morgan added 17 digs.

September 26

Football vs. Saint Xavier- 31-38, L

The Saints suffered a loss of the 9th ranked team from Saint Xavier on Saturday. Senior quarter Travis Zajkowski made his debut, and threw an impressive 470 yards for a new school record. He completed 35 of 53 passes, also a school record. Reggie Blackmon tied his own record with 11 receptions in a single game. He had 119 yards. Aaron Doriot had 10 catches totaling 156 yards. Nate Yeloushan had eight tackles and Darius Price had seven tackles, two forced fumbles, and a sack. The Saints scored 21 points in the first quarter before Saint Xavier took the lead 24-21 going into halftime.

SXU added to its lead in the fourth quarter scoring a pair of touchdowns. The Saints responded with a touchdown late into the fourth, but it was only enough to narrow SXU’s lead.

Women’s Volleyball vs. Lawrence Tech- 3-1, L

The Lady Saints suffered a 3-1 loss to Lawrence Tech in a Conference game on Saturday. The set scores were 25-20, 16-25, 25-19, and 25-16. Leze Vukaj finished with10 kills and Carly Tillotson had 28 assists for Siena Heights. Haley Mercy and Nicole Morgan each had 10 digs while Libby Breton added five blocks.

Women’s Soccer vs. Cornerstone- 2-1, W

The no 17 ranked team from Siena captures a 2-1 victory over Cornerstone University in a Conference game at home on Saturday. The Saints trailed at halftime 1-0, but they tied it up in the second half with a goal from Samantha Bartelotti. Taylor Mulder had the game winner, scoring a goal in the 87th minute. Taylor Hill made two saves in the goal.

Men’s Soccer vs. Concordia- 5-1, W

The men’s soccer team takes down fellow WHAC opponent from Concordia with ease. Concordia began the scoring in the second minute with a goal. The Saints answered, scoring two goals in the first half. The first was from Brent Rodden who was assisted by Matt Lentine. The second was from Elmedin Celovic, assisted by Matt Wilke. Three more goals were scored in the second half by Nate Krauss, Kaysey Collins, and Keith Swistock. The Saints outshot CU 23-1.

September 29

Men’s Golf at Arnie’s Invitational- 4th out of 14

Nicklaus Zanotti finishes third to help lead the men’s golf team to a fourth place finish at the two day Arnie’s Invitational hosted by Taylor University. Zanotti shot a 148. Ian Martin finished ninth place with a 154. Tim Combs ended with a 159 earning him 29th and Robert Kowalenko compiled a 166 for 52nd. SHU’s final team score was a 623.

Men’s Soccer vs. Cornerstone- 2-2, T

The men’s soccer team battled Concordia on Tuesday in a Conference game at home. The game ended in a 2-2 tie. Elmedin Celovi had a goal and an assist while Kaysey Collins also added a goal. Cornerstone too the lead in the 24th minute before Celovic responded in the 44th minute with a goal. Leo Hisamatsu had 14 saves in the goal. This game ends the four game losing streak to Cornerstone since 2011.

September 30

Women’s Soccer vs. Indiana Tech- 1-0, W

The Saints compiled their ninth straight win, defeating Indiana Tech 1-0. Paige Rachut scored the solo goal and the game winner for SHU in the 86th minute. Goalkeeper Megan Bogg had five saves. The Saints are currently ranked 17th.

Women’s Volleyball vs. Aquinas- 3-0, L

The women’s volleyball team suffers an unfortunate loss to Aquinas in a conference game with set scores of 25-11, 26-24, and 25-22. Leze Vukaj led the team with 11 kills and four blocks. Carly Tillotson had 19 assists.
