April 13

Baseball @ Marygrove, 5-1 W & 6-4 L

The Siena Heights baseball team split their double-header with Marygrove, winning the first game 5-1 before falling in game two 6-4. In game one, the Saints were led by the great pitching performance of Justin McPherson, who pitched a complete game giving up only six hits and one run. In game two, the Saints defense struggled give their offense a chance despite a homerun off the bat of Matthew Bondy.

Softball vs. Madonna, 6-2 L & 13-4 L

The Siena Heights softball team went 0-2 in their double-header against Madonna to fall to 16-15 on the season. In game one, the Saints fell 6-2. Leading the Saints was Kris Forest with two hits, one of which was a homerun. Things got worse in game two, as a 13-4 blowout loss was the result for the Saints despite Hailey Fox and Kelsey Cherry both recording two hits.

Women’s Lacrosse vs. Aquinas, 10-8 W & 11-9 W

In an unusual double header for women’s lacrosse, the Saints were able to go 2-0 against visiting Aquinas to improve to 6-8 on the season. In game one, which was a remake of postponed game from earlier in the season, Aliisa Mason led the Saints with five goals as goalie Tabitha Ferguson stopped 12 shots in the net. In game two, Kayla Parks scored four goals on the way to another SHU victory. Ferguson had 10 saves in the win.

Men’s Lacrosse @ Indiana Tech, 19-10 W

The NAIA third-ranked men’s lacrosse team defeated the seventh-ranked Indiana Tech Warriors by a comfortable score of 19-10. Seven different Saints scored in the victory, with Shane Lewandowski leading the way with five goals. The Saints improved to 8-4 on the season.

 

April 14

Baseball vs. Adrian, 4-3 W

The Siena Heights baseball team came out with a 4-3 victory over cross-town rival Adrian. With a 3-0 lead entering the top of the ninth, the Bulldogs scratched across three runs to tie the score at 3-3 before Austin Hauck drew a based loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth to give the Saints a unique walk-off victory.

April 15

Women’s Golf @ Cleary Invitational, 1st of 7

The women’s golf team placed first at the Cleary Invitational with a team score of 339, a comfortable margin over second place Aquinas with 362. Andrea Rumler led the Saints placing second in the field with a one-round score of 82. Alyssa Fausneaucht, Andrea Richards and Jessa Rappleye all tied for third with an 85.

Men’s Golf @ Cleary Invitational, 2nd of 7

The men’s golf team placed second out of seven teams at the Cleary Invitational with a team score of 320, nine strokes behind first place Cleary with 311. Alex Kowalenko led the way for the Saints, finishing fourth in the field with a one-round score of 77.

Baseball vs. Cornerstone, 6-4 W & 5-1 L

The SHU baseball team split their double-header with Cornerstone by final scores of 6-4 and 5-1 to advance their record to 15-17 on the season. In both games the visiting Golden Eagles got off to quick leads. The Saints were able to bounce back in game one thanks to a go-head RBI off the bat of Austin Hauck. Game two was a much different story for the Saints as the bats never got going. Hauck was the only Saint to record an extra-base hit in the loss with a double.

April 16

Women’s Track & Field @ Don Kleinow Invitational

The SHU women’s track team had a successful home meet at the Don Kleinow Invitational, witnessing 12 automatic qualifying performances and seven first place finishes. Leading the way for the Saints were Stephanie Marquardt who finished the 100m hurdles in 13.89 seconds and Kasey Renshaw who recorded a 60.41 meter throw in the hammer throw.

Men’s Track & Field @ Don Kleinow Invitational

Just like the women, the men had a lot of superior performances hosting the Don Kleinow Invitational. Seven saints recorded first place finishes and four Saints had automatic-qualifying performances in the meet. Frederick Boyd set the pace for the Saints with a 110m hurdle time of 14.53 seconds, while Dominic Muessig took first in the 800m run with a time of 1:51.53.

Softball @ Cornerstone, 8-0 W & 7-0 W

The Siena Heights softball team had their way at Cornerstone, shutting out the Golden Eagles twice in their double-header by final scores of 8-0 and 7-0. In game one, Lesley Ducat pitched the shutout while Megan Jones hit a homerun to give her all the offensive support she would need. In game two, Kelsie Abbott recorded the shutout while Kenya Keller hit a homerun in the win.

Baseball vs. Cornerstone, 12-9 L & 4-3 W

The Saints baseball team split their double-header in back-to-back close contests with the Golden Eagles of Cornerstone. In game one, the Saints witnessed a 9-8 lead vanish as Cornerstone scored four runs in the top of the ninth on the way to a 12-9 victory. In game two the Saints got their revenge, winning in walk-off fashion off the bat of a Dan Muller Double to win 4-3.

Women’s Lacrosse vs. Lourdes (Ohio), 12-7 L

The women’s lacrosse team fell to Lourdes (Ohio) 12-7 in WHAC conference competition. After a tied 6-6 halftime score, the visiting Gray Wolves dominated the Saints 6-1 in the second half on their way to 12-7 victory. Tabitha Ferguson led the Saints in the net with 11 saves.

April 17

Women’s Golf @ Stonehedge Dual, 2nd of 4

The Saints golf team placed second of four teams at the Stonehedge Dual. Lawrence Tech won the event with a 321 while both the Saints and Davenport came in a narrow second only one strike behind at 320. Andrea Richards led the way for the Saints with a second place finish score of 76. Finishing one stroke behind her in third was Alyssa Fausneaucht at 77.

Softball @ Davenport, 8-2 L & 8-7 W

The Siena Heights Softball team split their double-header with Davenport to advance their record to 19-17 on the season. In game one, the Panthers proved too much offense for the Saints defense on the way to an 8-2 victory. In game two, however, the Saints scored eight runs in the top of the fifth to take an 8-5 lead and eventual 8-7 win for the Saints. Kyndle Wolfinger, Skylar Crenshaw, and Megan Jones each had two hits in the win for the Saints.

Baseball vs. Cleary, 10-7 W

The Saints baseball team defeated Cleary 10-7 to improve their record to 17-18 on the year. The Saints were down 7-1 at one point, before the last nine runs of the game to win 10-7. Travis Stricklin, Matthew Bondy and Austin Hauck all recorded doubles in the win.

Men’s Lacrosse vs. Michigan-Dearborn, 14-7 W

The men’s lacrosse team continued their impressive season with a 14-7 win over Michigan-Dearborn. The Saints outscored the Wolverines in every quarter to cruise onto the comfortable win. Chris Acton and Spencer Macek each scored three goals in the win and goalie Tyler Hooper stopped seven shots in the net.

Women’s Lacrosse vs. Ursuline (Ohio), 18-14 L

The women’s lacrosse team dropped to 7-10 on the year following their 18-14 loss to Ursuline (Ohio). Ursuline outscored the Saints 12-5 in the first half and the Saints 9-6 edge in the second half was not enough to complete the comeback. Kayla Parks led the Saints with five goals and Tabitha Ferguson had 18 saves.

April 19

Softball @ Adrian, 4-3 W & 13-3 W

The Saints softball team took care of cross-town rival Adrian in their double-header by final scores of 4-3 and 13-3. In game one, a three-run fifth inning helped propel the Saints to victory despite a late Adrian comeback attempt. Kelsie Abbott led the Saints in game one with a double two RBIs. In game two, the Saints won in much more comfortable fashion thanks to an offensive outburst that gave them a 13-3 win. Hannah Bleikamp and Megan Jones both had homeruns in the win.

Baseball @ Adrian, 9-3 L

The Adrian College Bulldogs got their revenge over the SHU baseball team from earlier in the week, avenging their loss with a 9-3 win over the Saints. The Saints got the first lead 1-0 in the top of the second, but the Bulldogs responded with three runs in the bottom half of the inning and never looked back. Travis Stricklin had two doubles in the loss for the Saints.
