Homecoming 2014

Just as September is coming into full swing, so is Siena Heights’ annual homecoming. Although no one will be dressing up and dancing in a ballroom, the football game along with the tailgating beforehand will draw a huge crowd as it does each and every year. The game will be taking place at O’Laughlin Stadium at 1 PM on Saturday the 27th with tailgating starting several hours earlier. Make sure to stop by the Art Department’s tent before the game starts and see what they’re cooking up. The Saints will be taking on Olivet Nazarene but there is so much more in store than just the football game this homecoming! Siena Heights University organizes tons of extra activities going on throughout the week leading up to the big day.

On Monday there will be the SHU fiesta to celebrate Hispanic History Night. After that at 9 PM, a magician that goes by the name of Daniel Martin will be performing in Rueckert Auditorium located in Dominican Hall. According to several sources this magic man can turn $1 bills into $100 bills, which is a trick that any typical (and most likely broke) college student would like to see.

On Tuesday from 6 PM-11 PM, we will be playing Bongo Ball Mania, a less painful and much less messy version of paintball. Moving on to Wednesday, the Women’s Soccer team will be playing at 7 PM, followed by a pep rally at 9 PM on the lawn of the University Center. If you’re not exhausted by then, stick around until 10 PM to play some Glow in the Dark Capture the Flag on Led Lawn. It will be just like the movie Divergent except that Theo James, the attractive Brit who plays Four in the action-packed, dystopian film, will not be carrying you around. You won’t be dodging pain-packed faux bullets either but the similarities are there.

Thursday is another fun filled weekday starting with the “Backpack to Briefcase Lunch” at 12 noon in the UC dining center. At night you can come to the SPARCH sponsored drive-in movie, which takes place at 9 PM in DH. (Notice: Please, do not actually drive your car into the Dominican Hall building.) On Friday, September 28th and Saturday the 29th Siena’s theatre group will be performing “Godspell” at 8 PM in Franceour theatre. All in all, it is going to be a packed week with lots to do to celebrate Homecoming. Please support your Saints and attend these exciting events!

GO SAINTS!
