‘The Business of Elections’ Panel Discussion April 16

Former chairman of the Federal Elections Commission Bradley Smith is one of several participants in the upcoming “The Business of Elections” panel discussion at 7 p.m. April 16 in Rueckert Auditorium.

Other panelists will include Michigan Campaign Finance Network Executive Director Rich Robinson and former Michigan State House Rep. Doug Spade. Smith was appointed FEC chair by former President Bill Clinton and is currently a law professor at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. Robinson directs the nonpartisan Michigan Campaign Finance Network, while Spade served as a state representative from 1998-2004.

Sponsored by SHU’s Debate and Discussion Club, the discussion will focus on the important topic of the role of money in politics and elections, including the financing behind political campaigning and government offices.

A short reception will follow the discussion. This event is free and open to the Siena community.
