The Siena Heights women’s volleyball team was nothing short of impressive Sept. 9 when it defeated Northwestern Ohio 3-1. The Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match helped the team continue with the best start the program has seen in years.

Sophomore Leze Vukaj had a notable career high of 26 kills. When asked how she felt about her new career high and the strong beginning of the season she said, “It felt great to have a new career high, but I owe a lot of that to my teammates’ motivation every day. This year is so much different than last year. We are so much more focused and determined to win.”

Vukaj had a hitting percentage .512 at the end of the match. Other contributors were Taylor Felver with 12 kills and Abby Whitehead finished with nine. Nicole Morgan and Haley Mercy dominated the defense with 18 digs apiece.

The final set scores were 25-17, 25-11, 23-25,  25-15. The Saints won the first two sets before UNOH took the third. The fourth set was dominated by SHU, allowing them to take the fourth and score a conference win.
