“Our Town” Basketball Games vs. Adrian College
Women
Heading into Thanksgiving break, both the men’s and women’s Siena Heights basketball teams headed across town to take on the Bulldogs from Adrian College in the annual “Our Town” game. The Saints won the women’s game 58-47 and were led by junior forward April Watson who finished the game with 17 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

The Saints got off to a slow start only leading 11-9 after the first quarter but gradually picked up the pace.

“We just stuck to our game plan and let our momentum carry us through the game,” said sophomore guard Caroline Streeter.

Other contributors to the Saints’ success were senior forward Lauren Wirth, who led the team with 11 rebounds, while sophomore guard Azalea Miller had eight assists and freshman guard Ashley Perry a solid eight points and eight rebounds off the bench.

The Bulldogs were very athletic, so the Saints needed to dominate the boards and not turn the ball over as best as possible.

“We keyed on limiting their offensive boards because they are a very athletic team and get a lot of boards,” said Streeter. “That’s something we’ve struggled with in previous games.”

The Bulldogs were led by guards Jorden York and Antoinea McElroy, who contributed a combined 28 points.

The Saints haven’t lost to the Bulldogs since 2008, but Adrian still leads the all-time head to head match up 24-21.

Men
The men’s team immediately took on the Bulldogs following the women’s game for a battle of bragging rights for the year. Unfortunately for the Saints, they were unable to fend off the Bulldogs who forced 23 turnovers from the Saints compared to just eight as a team in a 76-62 loss.

This year was more of an interesting matchup against the Bulldogs seeing as a former Saint was a member of Adrian’s team. Christian Covile, now a senior, left the program following last year and transferred across town.

Covile dropped 11 points, six rebounds and four assists against his former team.

The Saints were led by senior guard George Goodman with 14 points, five rebounds and two assists as well as Michael Fomby, who contributed 12 points, four rebounds and four assists, respectively, off the bench.

For Adrian, a combined number of 64 points came from the starting lineup for the Bulldogs, 29 coming from junior guard Davonte Harris. Harris scored 22 of his 29 points in the second half to lead the Bulldogs to the victory and Milk Jug bragging rights in the town for a year.
