Men’s Volleyball Sweep Lawrence Tech

In a roaring win against Lawrence Tech University, the Siena Heights men’s volleyball team destroyed Lawrence Tech 3-0 Jan. 27 in the home opener. The Saints won with set scores of 25-14, 25-16, 25-16.

There were a few stand-out players for the Saints. Tyler Hubbard-Neil led his team in the kill category with eight kills, and his teammate, Arthur Gwoszdz, had a team-high 16 assists. Zach Haube, Matthew Dugan and Brody Davidson also contributed with five kills each to put the Saints on top.

“(It’s) kind of how we expected, that’s a first-year program,” said SHU head coach Kim Berrington.

Barrington said she was “very much” happy with the performance of her team, and said that the major key to the win was the ball handling being better than Lawrence Tech. She said it gave her team an advantage against the visiting Blue Devils.

“We can always improve on blocking and defense,” Berrington said.

Siena Heights will visit the rival Adrian Bulldogs at 7 p.m. Saturday. The next home game will be against Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) Feb. 5.
