Jan. 27

Women’s Basketball @ Indiana Tech, 68-66 L

The Siena Heights women’s basketball team dropped a back-and-forth contest with the Warriors of Indiana Tech by a final score of 68-66. The Saints were led by Lauren Wirth who recorded a double-double with 18 points and 13 rebounds. Also for SHU, Jaaliyah Arrington scored 15 points while teammate Azalea Miller scored 14 of her own.

Men’s Basketball @ Indiana Tech, 78-74 L

Much like the ladies, the Siena Heights men’s basketball team dropped a close one at the hands of Indiana Tech, losing 78-74 in large part due to a 7-3 run put on by Warriors in the closing four minutes. George Goodman led the Saints with 26 points. Jerrell Martin led the team in rebounds with 11.

Men’s Volleyball vs. Lawrence Tech, 3-0 W

Siena Heights started Mideast Conference play with a 3-0 sweep over the Lawrence Tech Blue Devils. The Saints won by set scores of 25-14, 25-16, and 25-16. The Saints were led by Tyler Hubbard-Neil who finished with eight kills. Also for the Saints, John Kalugar contributed six digs and five aces in the win.

Women’s Track & Field @ Saginaw Valley State

The No. 2 ranked women’s track and field program had a great showing at the Jet’s Pizza Invitational at Saginaw Valley State, with two Saints earning first place finishes. In high jump, Amber Koprin won the event with a height of 5 feet, 8 inches. In pole vault, Tasha McKinley cleared 11-1.25 (3.64) on her way to a first place finish via tiebreaker against teammate Sheila McKinley.

 

Men’s Track & Field @ Saginaw Valley State

The No. 3 ranked men’s track and field program also had two first-place finishers at the Jet’s Pizza Invitational hosted by Saginaw Valley State. Dominic Muessig placed first in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:52.07, while teammate Richard DePalma took first in pole vault at 16
feet, 6.75 inches (5.05m).

Cheerleading vs. Saint Francis

The Siena Heights cheer team started its season with the Halo Classic and Siena Heights/St. Francis Dual. The Saints put together a score of 77.95 at the Halo Classic but it was enough to win as they fell behind St. Francis (Ind.) at 89.85 and second-place Lourdes (Ohio) at 81.025. St. Francis got the best of Siena once again in the Siena Heights/St. Francis Dual, beating the Saints by a score of 87.1 to 77.025.

Women’s Bowling @ AHIBC III & IV

The Siena Heights women’s bowling team placed 12th out of 18 and 10th out of 18 at the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference’s final two tournaments of the season in Wickliffe, Ohio. At AHIBC III, Amanda Barry was the top-finisher for Siena placing 28th in the 126-bowler field with a 919 (183.8 average) five-game series. In AHIBC IV, Courtney Herron was the top-finisher for SHU placing 36th in the 135-bowler field with a 756 (189.0 average) four-game series.

Men’s Bowling @ AHIBC III & IV

The Siena Heights men’s bowling team placed seventh out of 21 and ninth out of 21 at the American Heartland Intercollegiate Bowling Conference’s final two tournaments of the season in Wickliffe, Ohio. At AHIBC III, the Saints were led by Joshua Criscenti with a 1,049 (209.8 average) five-game total to place 24th in the 187 bowler field. In AHIBC IV, Carlos Granados was the top-finisher for SHU, placing 46th in the 181 bowler field with am 822 (205.5) four-game series.

Women’s Basketball vs. Marygrove, 100-45 W

The Siena Heights women’s basketball team hit the century mark in a 100-45 win over Marygrove. After a 28-6 lead after the first quarter, the Saints continued to keep their foot on the gas in the blowout victory. Taylar McNeal and Jaaliyah Arrington led the Saints with 18 points apiece in the win.

Men’s Basketball vs. Marygrove, 84-73 L

A 56-42 difference in the second half was the difference maker in the men’s basketball team loss to Marygrove. The Saints shot 37.1 percent from the field to the Mustangs 49.2 percent. Jerrell Martin led the Saints with 30 points and nine rebounds, while George Goodman chipped in with 14 points, seven assists, and six rebounds in the loss.

Men’s Volleyball vs. Adrian, 3-0

The men’s volleyball team completed its second sweep of the week, this time defeating cross-town rival Adrian College 3-0 by set scores of 25-10, 25-14, and 25-22. Matthew Dugan and Chris Horner had six kills each, while Arthur Gwoszdz had 18 assists in the win.
