College Life: An Authentic Conversation

“The purpose of College Life is to have authentic conversation together and to build a community,” said Jon Torrence, one of the main leaders of College Life. This group of students meets once a week on campus to talk about Jesus and to build lasting relationships with one another.

During College Life, there is music, a special topic that is discussed by one of the leaders in the group, and also group discussion that takes place that involved specialized questions that are given by the leader who gives the talk.

“My favorite part of College Life is the group discussions because you just get to know one another and open up to each other,” said Amber Denomme, a leader and senior at Siena Heights.

Why do students become group leaders?

“I became a leader because I wanted to be there for support if anybody needed it, and I like to make people feel welcome,” said Denomme.

“I enjoy being a leader because I get to learn from the students because they are all unique human beings,” said Torrence.

Students also shared why they like being a part of the group.

“My favorite part of College Life is being able to sing with one another and become a community,” said Torrence. “My favorite topic is exploring the character of God and how it affects our lives.”

“The obedience topic had to be my favorite,” said Denomme.

Participants said College Life is definitely a place where students can come and share their faith and what they believe in.

“College Life is a place where you are going to have people who love you, regardless of where you have been and what you have done,” said Torrence.

College Life meets at 8 p.m. Thursdays in Dominican Hall room 114.
