March 23

Baseball vs. Marygrove, 10-3 W & 5-3 W

The Siena Heights baseball team swept their double-header against Marygrove by final scores of 10-3 and 5-3. In game one, the Saints got out to an early lead thanks to a five-run first inning and never looked back on their way to a 10-3 victory. Brent Vaccaro was the starting pitcher for the Saints, striking out seven batters over 7.2 innings of work for his second win of the season. Game two was a little tougher, as the Saints were down 3-1 entering the bottom of the sixth inning before rallying four runs on their way to a 5-3 win. Matthew Bondy went 2-for-3 in the win with double.

Men’s Volleyball @ Lawrence Tech, 3-0 W

The men’s volleyball team continued their winning ways, sweeping Lawrence Tech 3-0 by final set scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-10. Edward Harness led the Saints with 16 kills, while Matthew Dugan chipped in 13 digs in the win. With the win, the Saints improved to 16-6 on the season and extended their current winning streak to nine.

Women’s Lacrosse vs. Indiana Tech, 21-2 L

The Siena Heights women’s lacrosse team had their hands full with third-ranked Indiana Tech coming to town. The Warriors exposed the Saints early, jumping out to a 15-1 halftime lead and eventual 21-2 victory. Kayla Parks and Aliisa Mason scored the lone goals for the Saints, who dropped to 4-4 on the young season.

March 26

Baseball vs. Northwestern Ohio, 5-0 L & 10-0 L

The baseball team dropped the first two of their four-game home stand with the Northwestern Ohio Racers by final scores of 5-0 and 10-0. The Saints were never able to get any runs across, as they had nothing to show for their 10 total runs. Zack Dunlop had two hits in each game, with one of them being a double, the only multi-base hit for the Saints on the day.

 

Softball vs. Roosevelt (Ill.), 8-1 W & 2-1 W

The Siena Heights softball team pulled out two wins against Roosevelt (Ill.). Game one took a while to get going, as the Saints two runs in the bottom of the fourth before adding six more in the bottom of the sixth on the way to an 8-1 victory. Kelsie Abbott had three hits in the win. In game two, the contest was a little bit closer, with the Saints winning 2-1 in walk-off fashion thanks to an RBI single from Hannah Yadon.

March 28

Baseball vs. Northwestern Ohio, 4-1 L & 11-10 W

The Siena Heights baseball team split their final two games against the Northwestern Ohio Racers. In game one, the visiting Racers raced out to a 4-0 early lead after the third inning that would hold up a 4-1 win. In game two, the Saint were finally able to find some offense and beat UNOH, winning in walk off fashion by a final score of 11-10 thanks to a two-out RBI single to left center by Zack Dunlop.

Softball vs. Albion, 3-1 W & 11-0 W

In a game that was moved from Albion to SHU for field issues, the Saints took full advantage of home field taking both games in the double-header by final scores of 3-1 and 11-0. In game one, the Saints won a low-scoring affair by scoring two runs in the bottom of the third on the way to a 3-1 victory. Lesley Ducat was the winning pitcher for SHU, allowing only one run on three hits while striking out three. In game two, the Saints flexed their offensive and defensive muscle, scoring in every inning while not allowing a run themselves on the way to an 11-0 win. Skylar Crenshaw tripled in the win.

March 29

Baseball vs. Spring Arbor, 6-5 L

The Siena Heights baseball team lost a heartbreaker in 11-innings to visiting Spring Arbor. Spring Arbor rallied two runs in the top of the eight to force extra innings and scored one more in the top of the 11th to complete the 6-5 comeback. Despite five runs in the first three innings, the Saints offense never got going after that and couldn’t manage one extra base hit throughout the contest.

Men’s Lacrosse vs. Aquinas, 8-5 W

The men’s lacrosse team took care of business and improved to 6-3 on the season after defeating visiting Aquinas by a final score of 8-5. The Saints outscored Aquinas 3-0 in the final minute of the fourth quarter to pull away for the victory. Danny Orr scored the game winner with 56 seconds left to give the Saints a 6-5 lead.
