SHU International Student Profile: Patricia Santos

With Siena Heights having such an eminent culture, Patricia Santos from Salamanca, Spain, gives her thoughts upon her experience at Siena thus far. She is on the cross-country and track team and displays confidence upon her abilities to run this year. On the educational side, she is a sophomore majoring in Business Administration.

In asking how her transition has gone from home to a dominant English speaking culture, she explains how she has gone through experiences of being excited to racking up some nerves about her approach to future experiences.

Overall, she said she is quite happy with where she is and takes complete advantage of Siena’s International Club, calling Associate Director of International Enrollment Fatmy Abed Pinero “amazing!” and that “she helps with everything I need.”

Santos’s future looks bright, and she said she has an idea of where she wants to go. In her willingness to succeed, she said she would like to stay and work in America for some time, but ultimately she looks forward to being back in Spain where the culture is much more relaxed on job security. It’s a goal of hers that is not too far from reach.

“I really enjoy the classes, the teachers are personal,” Santos said. She said she has no fear of failure in the studying environment.

In asking if there were any negatives to her experience at Siena so far, she recognizes that there is very few things to do in the town and wished there were more ways for people to connect. That, and said her only dislike about the food on campus is the amounts of butter they use.

“I don’t like butter,” she makes clear.
