Triple Double for Bartelotti, Gray

Two Siena Heights University soccer players score hat tricks at the end of the season.

Samantha Bartelotti, a member of the women’s team, scored three goals in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals against Indiana Tech to clinch the 4-2 victory. Bartelotti said when asked whether she would rather score a game winning goal or a hat trick, “I’d rather be in whatever situation allows our team to get a win. Scoring goals is fine, but if it comes in a loss it does not mean much.”

In Bartelotti’s case, she scored the game-winner and a hat trick in the same game. Bartelotti and the rest of the women’s team then went on to defeat No. 2 ranked Northwestern Ohio in the WHAC championship game in Lima, Ohio, 2-1.

In addition, Justin Gray of the men’s soccer team scored a hat trick against Rochester to pull off the 4-0 win. Gray said he would, “rather have a game winning goal because it is more important to the team’s success.”

He also talked about how he would “cherish this achievement, because it is one of the first ones the men’s program here at Siena has had.”
