Men’s Basketball

On Jan.  12, the Saints (10-8) traveled to Madonna (15-6) and fell 95-84. DeMarco Dickerson led the Saints charge with 20 points, six rebounds and a steal. In the weekend contest, the Saints outrebounded 37-32, leading to 17 points of second-chance attempts, and shot 46 percent from the field. On Jan. 16 the Saints (10-9) fell to Lawrence Tech (8-10) in a tightly contested thriller, 80-77. Josh Winowiecki led the Saints with 19 points, nine rebounds and a block while teammate DeMarco Dickerson contributed with 17 points, two steals and two assists. The Saints will take on the University of Northwestern Ohio at home Jan. 19.

Women’s Basketball

On Jan. 12, the Saints (15-5) traveled to Madonna (0-19) and defeated the Crusaders 84-68. The Saints as a team shot an outstanding 59 percent from the floor. Demi Russell shot 14 of 19 in the contest, talling 31 points and eight rebounds. The Saints won the battle in the paint, scoring 54 of their 84 and hauling in 42 rebounds. On Jan. 16, the Saints (16-5) defeated Lawrence Tech (16-6) in a shootout, with the final scoring registering 60-57. Tightly contested in nearly every team category, Demi Russell led the Saints in scoring with 15 points and chipped in with six rebounds. Hauling in rebounds for the Saints was Sharmaine Wills, as she recorded 10, and contributed six points.

Men’s Track and Field

On Jan. 11, the Saints competed in the Grand Valley Bob Eubanks Open and placed 11th out of 17 teams.

Women’s Track and Field

On Jan. 11, the Saints placed second out of 18 teams while competing in the Grand Valley Bob Eubanks Open. Multiple females finished first in their corresponding events. Delaney Stersic finished first in the 600 meter with a time of 1:42.16. Another first place finisher was Haley Hudson in the shot put, with a distance of 13.96m.

Men’s Volleyball

On Jan. 11, the Saints defeated Lawrence Tech (0-2) in four sets in the season opener in the Michigan Men’s Volleyball Invitational. The Saints fell the first set 25-23 but were able to rally and win the next 3 sets by a good margin. Alex Garavalia led the Saints with 16 kills for the offense and four blocks on the defensive end. The Saints in total had 10 blocks, 44 digs and seven aces.The Saints (2-0) also defeated Olivet (0-2) later that day in a 3-0 sweep. Bryce Johnson paced the offense with 11 kills and Emmanuel Chaidez had five of the team’s six blocks. The defense was also able to slow Olivet’s offense with 53 total digs.

On Jan. 12, the Saints fell to Aquinas (4-0) 3-0. The Saints fought hard keeping the last two sets, getting within three points. Garavalia had nine kills and Keegan Crawford had 27 assists.

In the last game of the tournament the Saints (3-1) ended by sweeping crosstown rival Adrian (2-2) 3-0. Garavalia had 15 kills, finishing with 24 on the day. Crawford had 62 assists on the day.
