Spring Football Concludes with April 13 Spring Game
The Saints’ football team is looking to build off a strong 2018 season. After having a 7-3 record last year, the Saints fell short of making it to the NAIA playoffs.
So, this year’s team is coming with some fire under them. On March 13, the Saints began preparation for their 2019 season.
Although a majority of the defense is coming back, the defensive line lost seniors Malik Edwards, Davante Collins and Izayah Newsom. The Saints have some young players who are competing to fulfill those spots. They include sophomores Javaris Jackson, Santangho Reynolds and freshman Jefferson Edwards.
On the offensive side, quarterback Tyler Knecht leads the offense and is being a vocal leader.
Though the Saints will be young on both sides of the ball, they are looking to come into the 2019 season ready to compete and get wins.
The Saints will host their Spring game at 5 p.m. April 13 in O’Laughlin Stadium.
