Saints Shut Out Rochester 2-0

The Siena Heights men’s soccer team defeated Rochester 2-0 at home in a conference matchup.

Brayden Stephan scored the first goal for the Saints in the first half. During the rest of that half, neither teams would score even though they both had opportunities and could not connect. Rochester edged the Saints nine shots to seven in the first half.

In the second half, both teams played great defense, stopping each other from scoring for nearly 42 minutes. The Saints had plenty opportunities to score but could not connect.

In the 88th minute, Justin Gray beat Rochester’s goalkeeper from a pass to have a wide-open shot.

The win put that Saints at a 2-0 record in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. The Saints edged Rochester 10 shots to six, and Rochester edged the Saints four corner shots to zero in the second half.

The Saints will face Madonna in a WHAC matchup at home on Oct. 5.
