Tuesday Sep. 25 through Thursday Sep. 27, the 16 active members of the Delta Upsilon Chapter of Phi Sigma Sigma will reel in a few new members with the catchy, “Get Sweet on Greek” theme during their recruitment week. “We are looking for strong women with leadership skills that we enjoy being around. The combination of leadership and fun will take our sorority to the next level,” states Savannah Haig, current president of the sorority. She also adds, “We stand for inclusiveness, lifelong learning, and leadership through service so we want our members to match these credentials.”

Each recruitment night is candy themed. Tuesday night will be iphone 5c refurbished centered around the candy Gobstoppers. “The idea that Phi Sig has many layers similar to a Gobstopper is the goal behind Tuesday night’s theme,” said Jenna Long, the Membership Recruitment Chair of the chapter and the coordinator of the event. “We want to break down the layers of Phi Sig and show potential new members what we are all about.”

Wednesday night is the candy jewelry, Ring Pop, themed. “Joining a sorority is a commitment and having a night themed, “Put a Ring on it!” is a fun way to show how committed we are and how members of Phi Sig shine amongst the other Siena students,” Long explained. The sorority won’t actually put any rings on the potential new members; the theme of “putting a ring on it” is meant to symbolize the seriousness of a sorority and the dedication it takes to be a member.

The final recruitment night is mint themed; “You’re Mint to be with us!” Not only will this night have an inclusive theme, active members, alumnae members, and potential new members will have an opportunity to come together for a philanthropic cause. The women will be making fleece tie-blankets to donate to woman’s shelters around Lenawee County. The blankets will be small in size for the infants and children of these shelters who are less fortunate.
