Trailing by nine after the first half, the Saints fought back, only to lose the 2nd half scoring total by a five-point margin, giving way to a 78-64 loss. The Saints struggled throughout the game in crucial facets, shooting under 40% from the field and less than 25% from deep. Jerrell Martin and Eric Cogan continued their streaky shooting, leading the team in scoring for the 2nd game in a row with 14 and 20. The Saints, standing at 8-12, take on conference foe, Davenport, Wednesday night in the Fieldhouse.

Men’s Volleyball

The era of head coach, Michael McCarthy, started in stunning fashion. The newly-minted head coach let his team open up against visiting Cincinnati Christian Monday afternoon and showed glimpses of how good this year’s team can become if they stay on the upswing. The Saints won in four sets on Monday, showing stretches of complete dominance in every aspect of the game. Led by Gilius Blinstrubas with 18 kills, the high-flying Saints spent much of their time above the net, both attacking serves and sending back attempted kills by the tall trees from Cincinnati Christian. Max Field and Lance Blough added nine kills to the total as well, while Zak Krug made some exciting moves with 16 digs on the day. True freshman, Tyler Hubbard-Neil, brought some electricity into the Fieldhouse with his high motor and his four service aces, which was a game and team-high.

This Saturday’s game looks to be a thriller as visiting conference rival, Robert Morris, travels to Fred Smith court to take on your men Saints. Unranked Robert Morris is coming off an impressive win against the 6th-ranked St. Ambrose Bees and comes in with an undefeated record to start the season.
