Women’s Volleyball Sweeps 13th Ranked Davenport

The Siena Heights women’s volleyball team took down #13th-ranked Davenport in three sets in the home opener in front of a crowd packed full of enthusiastic students.

Davenport captured the WHAC title last year, and received a number 13 ranking in the nation for 2015, making the Panthers the team to beat again this season. The Panthers received a wake-up call when the Saints won the first two sets with ease, not leading until the third and final set of the match. The Saints broke a 22-all tie in the third set, with a kill from sophomore Abby Whitehead. Whitehead led the Lady Saints with 13 kills.

The Saints’ last win versus Davenport dates back to 2006, which adds up to a 12 match losing streak. When asked how it felt to take home the win, senior Nicole Morgan simply said it was “indescribable.”

Another win in their next match will give the Saints their best start in nearly 10 years. As the common saying goes, “it was a great day to be a Saint.”
