New Student Government On the Job

New Student Government On the Job

With a new school year off and running, newly appointed members of SHU Student Government have come up with fresh new ideas to improve Siena Heights University for all.

The student government consists of 10 highly involved students led by junior President Charlie Ludlow and senior Vice President Jessica Behnke. The team consists of two senior senators, Elaine Johnson and Keith Swistock, two junior senators, Hayley Balsitis and Sam Haack, and two sophomore senators, Quimin (Doris) Tao and Lauren McMahon. Gabi Corbin is a junior and the Student Government’s treasurer, and sophomore Gabriella Beverige is the group’s historian.

According to Ludlow, the group is very excited to announce their newest addition of three water bottle fill-up stations around campus. In addition to the completed projects, their next tasks consist of adding lights around the sand volleyball courts, as well as adding crosswalks on Siena Heights Drive to improve student safety. Ludlow believes by adding lights around the sand volleyball courts, it will give students more time to enjoy the courts, and also add a whole new experience of playing at night.

The group’s first meeting will be at 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16 in Rueckert Auditorium. This meeting is open to all students who are interested in being a part of the Student Government and to improve the student life at SHU. For any further questions contact [email protected].
