Alumni Art Reception Oct. 16 in Studio Angelico
A highlight of this upcoming Homecoming Week at Siena Heights University is the opening reception of work by alumni artists in Klemm Gallery. The event takes place from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 16. At 7 p.m., the artists will briefly discuss their work in an informal gallery talk. Natalie Lanese, the director of the Klemm Gallery, said, “The gallery reception is free and open to the public.
Studio Angelico will host a welcome reception for all attendees of Homecoming Weekend. With a $12 ticket purchase through the Alumni Office, guests will enjoy hors d’oeuvres and drinks throughout the studio. It will consist of artist talks by Kelly Burke ’07 and Brett J. Lawrence ’95, whose work is being displayed in the Klemm Gallery located in Studio Angelico.
Lanese said, “Kelly’s abstract paintings… focus on process and physicality of paint. The repetitious layering of, taking away, and re-application of color underneath automatic scrawling, scratching and mark-making express (her) inner psyche.
“Brett J. Lawrence’s photographs document a collaborative project with performance artist Satori Circus, in which the two explore .. .things that (they) each hold dear – photography, performance art and the history of an oftentimes struggling city with its beautiful historic theaters.”
