Feb. 3

Women’s Basketball vs. Cornerstone, 72-40 W

The Siena Heights women’s basketball team used an impressive 22-6 first quarter start to propel them to a 72-40 win over the Cornerstone Golden Eagles. Field-goal percentage was the difference, as the Saints shot 47 percent compared to 25 percent for Cornerstone. Lauren Wirth led the way for SHU with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Men’s Basketball @ Cornerstone, 94-53 L

The 11th-ranled Cornerstone Golden Eagles proved too much for the Siena Heights men’s basketball team, beating the Saints 94-53, which included 43-17 second half differential. Ball movement was the difference, as Cornerstone tallied 16 assists to the Saints five. Christopher Pearl led the way for SHU with 12 points and three assists.

Feb. 4

Men’s Volleyball vs. Illinois Tech, 3-0 W

The Siena Heights men’s volleyball team dominated Illinois Tech by set scores of 25-12, 25-15, and 25-15 on their way to a 3-0 sweep. The Saints were led by Chris Horner with seven kills and Jeff Hardman with 15 assists in the win.

Feb. 5

Women’s Track & Field @ Hillsdale

The Siena Heights women’s track & field team continued their impressive season at the Hillsdale Wide-Track Classic with first place finishes for Stephanie Marquardt in in the 60 meter hurdles at 8.67 seconds, Phoenix Duncan in high jump at 1.75 meters (5-8.75), and Haley Hudson in the shot put with a toss of 14.31 meters (46 feet, 11.5 inches). With their performances, Marquardt and Duncan are now ranked first in the NAIA for their respective events.

 

Men’s Track & Field @ Hillsdale

The Siena Heights men’s track & field team continued their successful season at the Hillsdale Wide-Track Classic with first place finishes from Richard DePalma in pole vault with a height of 5.25 meters (17 feet, 2.5 inches) and Frederick Boyd in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.24 seconds. DePalma currently ranks first among all NAIA pole vaulters.

Men’s Volleyball vs. Cincinnati Christian, 3-1 W

After being tied 1-1 after the second set following scores of 25-18 and 20-25, the Saints were able to defeat Cincinnati Christian (Ohio) 3-1 following narrow final set scores of 25-23 and 25-22. The Saints were led by Tyler Hubbard-Neil with 15 kills and John Kalugar with 12 digs.

Feb. 6

Women’s Bowling @ WHAC Championships

The Siena Heights women’s team went 1-2 at the WHAC Championships, getting eliminated in the second round of the losers bracket. SHU started the day as the six-seed based on regular season standings and got swept 3-0 in a best of five series by third-seeded Indiana Tech. In the first round of the losers bracket, the Saints defeated seven-seeded Cornerstone 3-1 before getting eventually getting knocked out by the four-seed Northwestern Ohio Racers in a 3-0 sweep.

Men’s Bowling @ WHAC Championships

The Siena Heights men’s bowling team went 1-2 at the WHAC Championships, getting eliminated in the second round of the losers bracket. SHU started the day as the four-seed based on regular season standings and defeated fifth-seeded Aquinas 3-1 in a best of five series to start the tournament. The Saints were then sent to the losers bracket after losing to the one-seed and WHAC regular season champions, Concordia, 3-1. In the next round, the Saints were not able to hold on to a 2-0 lead against sixth-seeded Davenport and fell 3-2 to end their day.

Women’s Basketball @ Michigan-Dearborn, 47-30 W

The Siena Heights women’s basketball team had their way with Michigan-Dearborn by a final score of 47-30. The Saints came out hot, outscoring Michigan-Dearborn 20-11 in the first quarter and never looked back. Jaaliyah Arrington led the way for SHU, scoring 12 points. Also for the Saints, April Watson had eight rebounds in the win.

Men’s Basketball @ Michigan-Dearborn, 73-71 L 

The Siena Heights men’s basketball team dropped a nail-bitter at the hands of Michigan-Dearborn by a final score of 73-71. George Goodman led SHU with 23 points and Jerrell Martin recorded a double-double behind 10 points and 11 rebounds. The Saints are now 9-17 on the year and 5-13 in conference play.
