SHU Fly on the Wall: Question of the Week

“What do you think is the problem with parking?”

Zak – “We only have the front section of the fieldhouse, which isn’t very many spots,” Zak said. “Plus, the spots we do have… most of the time residents park there.”

Shane – He thinks the problem with parking is that there isn’t enough space for everyone, commuters and residents. He says that all the residents want to park close, but the commuters need to park close, which makes things difficult.

Kara – She believes that there isn’t enough spaces, but she made the argument that we pay $100 a year for parking that not everyone can fit in. She doesn’t think it is fair that we have to pay.

Bianca – She says the problem is that everyone parks in the wrong spots. Everyone wants to get as close as possible, but it is just not realistic.

Mason – He thinks that the problem with parking is that he has to park all the way in the back of the fieldhouse because there aren’t enough spots up front.

Lauren – She also agrees that there aren’t enough parking spaces. She said she has seen people parked in the grass by the nursing building because they didn’t want to park behind the fieldhouse.

Sarah – Sarah, who is also a commuter, agrees that there aren’t enough parking spaces. She doesn’t agree with paying $100 for a parking pass when there are hardly any commuter spots available. She doesn’t think it is fair that commuters and residents both pay the same amount when there is a significant difference in the amount of spots available.

Lexi – She doesn’t like the fact that there are now parking spots for admissions visitors. They are only here for a day to visit and then they leave. She thinks those could be spots for commuters.

Lindsey – She thinks that more people need to be educated on where to park. She said that when she was a freshman, no one really told her where to park. She thinks this could be why so many people are parked in the wrong spots.
