Dakota Spears Notches Rare Accomplishment

Dakota Spears, a freshman from Hudsonville, Mich., accomplished something very rare this past season for the women’s golf team. On Oct. 17, Spears was able to notch her first collegiate hole-in-one at the third Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Jamboree.

Spears said the hole-in-one was definitely the “highlight of the fall season.” Those who are not avid golf fans, a hole-in-one is when the player sinks the ball on the first shot off the tee. This is very tough to do, whether it be a short hole or a long hole.

Spears said it felt great to do this, since everyone in the conference congratulated her and she had felt very grateful for that. The golf team as a whole, had a decent fall season, she said. However, they were never able to put four good scores together.

Spears said the best thing from the fall season was that she was able to get to know the team a lot better, and she had a great time in her first season as a collegiate athlete.
