Men’s And Women’s Soccer Begin Seasons

The women’s soccer team kicked off the season with an exhibition match against Rochester University, winning 5-0.

The Saints have had a very proud tradition of success over the years. It seems that every year they are poised for a very deep playoff run and a shot at the conference title, and they certainly are once again this year. The Saints are picked 4th in the WHAC preseason poll. They also return a lot of players from last year’s team including 11 seniors from a last year’s season that went 12-6-1 and 8-3 in conference play.

Even though the regular season has not started yet, the Saints still looked very impressive in a dominant performance against Rochester. The Saints were led by sophomore Marissa Young, who tallied two goals and an assist. The other three goals were scored by redshirt sophomore Genesis Pena, sophomore Isabel Remar, and senior Kennedy Barr.

The Saints’ regular season starts Oct. 3 against Indiana Tech.

With four regular season games in the fall, the Saints will continue their season in February.

The men’s soccer team also played an exhibition game and fell to Adrian College 4-0 at Docking Stadium.

The men’s team also returned a lot of players and have a veteran squad this year with 10 returning seniors. The Saints are picked to finish eighth in the WHAC this year, with the fall regular season starting Oct. 3 against Indiana Tech. The Saints will play four regular season games in the fall, with three of the four being at O’Laughlin Stadium.

After these four regular season games the men will also return to action in February 2021.
